Le Jeune Orchestre Rameau, a unique musical adventure
Founded under the impetus of Bruno Procopio, the Jeune Orchestre Rameau (JOR) is a large-scale project dedicated to the rediscovery and transmission of Jean-Philippe Rameau's repertoire. It brings together young musicians from leading international conservatories and professionals seeking in-depth immersion in the interpretation of French music on period instruments. An exceptional educational and artistic project
The orchestra benefits from top-level coaching by specialists in Baroque music and the French repertoire. In collaboration with prestigious institutions such as the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, the Haute École de Musique de Genève and the Sistema des orchestres du Venezuela, the JOR offers its musicians immersive training, focusing on historically informed practices and the rediscovery of little-known works.
An orchestra faithful to the great ensembles of the time
The ambition of the Jeune Orchestre Rameau is to achieve a full orchestra of around 50 musicians, in the image of the orchestra of the Académie Royale de Musique in Rameau's time, in order to restore all the richness and sonic power of this repertoire.
A mission to rediscover our musical heritage
Thanks to a partnership with Sylvie Bouissou (CNRS), director of the Jean-Philippe Rameau - Opera omnia publishing house (Bärenreiter), the JOR is actively contributing to the rehabilitation of previously unpublished works by the composer. The Opera Omnia team is currently preparing the edition of several previously unpublished scores, specially selected for the orchestra.
International influence through recordings
The Jeune Orchestre Rameau has also made a name for itself through its acclaimed recordings on the Paraty label, distributed by PIAS-Universal.
Guerre et Paix, the JOR's first album, was awarded the Prix d'Excellence du disque by Scherzo magazine in Spain, and has been selected as one of the best recordings of 2022.
Concerts et Sextuor is the JOR's second album, a fusion of the sextet version and the harpsichord concertante part of the first version from 1741.
An orchestra on the move, between tradition and modernity
Driven by a desire to transmit and innovate, the Jeune Orchestre Rameau has established itself as a key player in the rehabilitation of France's orchestral heritage. It offers young musicians an immersive experience, while enabling audiences to rediscover Rameau's audacity and modernity in a new light.
Join us in this unique musical adventure and let yourself be carried away by the richness of this priceless repertoire.

The richness achieved by the two harpsichords, combined with the orchestral texture provided by the two strings per desk, give this version a sumptuous sonority, brilliantly guided by harpsichordist Bruno Procopio's assured direction.

"It's not often you get to witness and be aware of a historic musical event. This release is one of them, the first phonographic recording which, if all goes according to plan, is destined to become one of the best historically informed orchestras on the planet, and not for lack of competitors..."
" Procopio manages to achieve a powerful and refined sound simultaneously, with admirable fusion and balance, resulting in a myriad of colors from the Ramist palette, under direction that is not without firmness and dominated by vigor, fire, and at times, delicacy."
